Translating acronyms of “Designated Survivor” into Romanian

The present article is based on research focusing acronyms, including their forms, spelling and punctuation in English, also discussing various, often contradictory, or ambiguous definitions for so-called “minor” word-formation options. We try to argue a more lenient definition of abbreviations, initialisms alphabetisms, directing our attention towards certain technical features acronyms (uppercase letters, with without periods). database taken from popular TV series, “Designated Survivor”, resulting 276 unique totaling 1,198 occurrences, which includes 2 9 letters combined numbers specific symbols (hyphens ampersand), excludes common ones (DJ, TV) Roman (II, III, XIII). most frequent English at least 5 occurrences are considered (856), out the 15 (a total 664) examined together all Romanian renditions. conclusion section summarizes findings, considering aspect “slippery” quality, yet interpreting results perspective overall consistency.
